We are Malaysians……No Problem

We always say, “Malaysia Boleh”. Sometimes, it really does make sense.

Look at our surrounding, and simply we can easily pick anything as example. As Malaysians, it’s our culture, things turned up to be society culture that doesn’t differential by what race you are.

You were walking on the street, and then suddenly the guy in front, was throwing rubbish to the ground and walked away slowly. What would you do, theoretically and practically? Ideally, you would pick up the rubbish or moralizing the guy with your judgment. But the truth was, you would just tell yourself, “No Problem, everyone is doing this way, and someone will clean the street later.” So, you just leaved it.

This is Malaysian way, we can tolerance with it, and in fact we might one of the guys as well. We can spot this similarity scenario in anyway. At the residential areas, check the drains, and we can find anything inside: the foods, rubbishes, clothes, and etc. It’s not surprise if we find death body as well. As we are living in the civilized and modernized societies, but still finding people actually peeing at the drains behind their houses, ironically. Perhaps, this is one of the ways to cut the house expenses?

You were delegating jobs to others, and after the long briefing, everyone was answering, “No problem, we will get the things done perfectly on time.” So, time was passing by, and seemed like everything ran smoothly. But, you were wrong! Till almost the due date, they came back to you and requesting for more time, due to “unclear direction of your instruction.” In other words, they did not understand clearly what the expectation was.

Communication breakdown is always the main problem in a society. Or more perhaps, we always don’t want to let someone down by telling the facts. So, we promise at the first place, trying our best, and facing the truth later. As elders are always telling us, “Don’t say NO to your customers’ requests, but you can reject them with nicely way.” The cruelest thing is, when someone is telling you “No problem”, he or she actually know his or her ability can’t handle the tasks already, but due to “not to disappointed” you, they accepted the tasks lightly.

When come to talk about communication, one amazing thing always happen in Malaysia is, journalists always listen “wrongly” or “misunderstand” the politicians speech, leading to a lot hoo-ha. Should those journalists to be “re-educated” again? Or brain-washing would be better?

Sometime ago, friend and I went to one of the Chinese restaurants at Taman Sepakat Indah, located at Kajang. This restaurant is famous with the “La Tang” (pronounced in Mandarin) or Spicy Soups as in direct translation. We ordered few dishes and a pot of tea, were enjoying the dinner, till almost finished all dishes, we found fly inside the Spicy Soups. Oh! Damn! The captain came, smiling, apologized to us, and offering us other Spicy-Soups. Another one? Sorry, I don’t dare to take it at that place anymore.

We are facing this all the time, but as Malaysians, “No problem, this is only small matter. How much we pay, that the service we got.” The most common alien thing we will find in our dishes is, hair. If you were lucky enough, you might find death body of mouse. In our mindsets, we always think, the pay for the things is equal to the quality of the service. So, when we sent our car to repair and complaining, authorized service centre would be telling us, “kereta Malaysia, apo lagi, menang lah biasa.” (Malaysian-made cars, what else do you expect?”). Oh! Sound like, for those locally-made cars, the quality MUST BE lower than imported car, and it is undeniable rule! Shit!

Malaysians, “Malaysia Boleh!” and yet we are tolerancing in all respects? Shall we?

Perhaps, as we have been telling all time, EVERYTHING is very sensitive issue in our country, we shall not talk or discussing them openly in the public. From the facts and the ways we tolerated with problems, I think we are good students and citizens!

Mat Rempits, or illegal racing, which already has broken the regulations and laws, and endanger the road users safety. Funny thing is, someone from our governors said “not all Mat Rempits is a bad person.” I don’t know others, but I am confused. So, does it mean, we should just leave them alone? Or put some of them into jail, and leave others because “not all of them are bad person”, even though they have broken the regulations? Perhaps, we shall redefine the meaning of some of the words. Example, not-a-bad-person, means, a person who has broken regulations and laws, put other people life in danger, but yet to any physical damage or heavier guilt or fault to the public.

Anywhere, we are Malaysians, No Problem in everything and anything. All is acceptable.
